ChartKey — Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 30, 2026

ChartKey is a medical keyboard for iPhone and iPad. You type with it all day, so its privacy model has to be stronger than a promise. The short version:

The keyboard cannot send what you type anywhere — it contains no networking code at all. No servers, no accounts, no ads, no analytics SDKs, no tracking. What you type stays on your device.

What you type

Everything the keyboard does — autocorrect, abbreviation expansion, dot phrases, drug-name search — runs entirely on your device, against dictionaries that ship inside the app. The keyboard extension has no network access by architecture: there is no networking code in it, so there is nothing to "opt out" of. Your keystrokes are never logged, stored as text, or transmitted, by us or anyone else.

Full Access — what it is and isn't

iOS asks you to grant keyboards "Full Access" before they can share data with their container app. In ChartKey, Full Access enables exactly one thing: a private App Group container on your device that the keyboard and the ChartKey app use to share your settings, your custom snippets and your learned words. Nothing in that container leaves your device. Without Full Access the keyboard still works, with built-in data only.

Learned words and iCloud

Words you teach ChartKey are stored on your device, and mirrored through Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store so your other devices signed into the same Apple Account learn them too. That mirror lives in your iCloud, under your Apple Account; we cannot read it and we operate no server that ever sees it. Deleting the app and its iCloud data removes it.

Usage counters

ChartKey's Time-Saved report is computed from anonymous integer counters (for example, "number of expansions this month") kept on your device. The counters contain no text and are never transmitted.

Keyboard status

The app checks Apple's list of enabled keyboards on your device solely to tell you whether ChartKey is switched on during setup. That check happens on-device and is not recorded or transmitted.

Purchases

ChartKey Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details. The app stores only an anonymous entitlement status ("Pro is active") on your device so the keyboard can unlock Pro features.

Data Collection Summary

Children's Privacy

ChartKey is a professional tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change how ChartKey handles data, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change ships. Given the keyboard's no-network architecture, a change that added any collection would be a fundamental redesign — not a quiet edit.
