Terms of Use

Last updated 11 September 2026

Quint is licensed under Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement. These terms add what that agreement does not say about what this particular app does.

What Quint does

Quint reads the key, the mode, the harmonic code, the tempo, the sections and the loudness of an audio file you own, of a file shared into it, or of twenty seconds captured from a speaker. It reports what it measured. It does not modify your audio and it does not create music.

Accuracy

Key and tempo detection is an estimate, not a fact. Quint reports the framework's own confidence and how much of the track stays in the key it names, and a track that changes key, a live recording or a heavily processed mix can all produce a reading a musician would disagree with. A twenty second capture from a room is the least reliable case of all, because the room is in the recording. Listen before you trust a number, and treat every reading as a starting point rather than an answer.

Loudness

Loudness is measured to ITU-R BS.1770 and compared against targets published by streaming platforms. Each target carries the page it was read from and the date it was checked. Those pages are published by the platforms and can change without notice, so check the source before you master to a number. Quint is a meter, not a mastering service, and a passing reading is not a guarantee that a platform will leave your track alone.

Music you do not own

Analyze audio you have the right to analyze. Apple Music streaming tracks are protected and Quint refuses them by design. Nothing in the app is a way around any protection.

The harmonic code

The 1A to 12B convention is a way of numbering keys that is common across DJ software. Quint implements the convention. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any DJ software vendor.

Purchases

Key, mode, harmonic code, tempo, integrated loudness and true peak need no purchase and are not time limited. Pro is offered as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a one time purchase, and adds the sections timeline, the vocal lane, the streaming targets table, sets, the unlimited crate and batch analysis. Prices are shown in your own currency on the purchase screen before anything is charged, and any introductory offer is stated there too.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you turn it off at least a day before it renews. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. Payment is taken by Apple, and refunds are Apple's to give under their terms.

Your records

Your crate, your sets and anything you export are yours. They live on your device. Deleting the app deletes them, so export first if you want to keep them.

No warranty

Quint is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, there is no warranty that a reading will be correct, that the app will suit a particular purpose, or that it will run without interruption. Nothing here limits a right you have that cannot be limited.
