Common questions

Why does a product show no score?

A Litmus score needs six nutrition values. About a quarter of products in the bundled database are missing at least one of them, and many labels do not print a full nutrition panel. When that happens Litmus says so instead of guessing. The ingredient checks still run, because those only need the ingredient list.

Why did it say it could not read the label?

Litmus checks whether the text it recovered actually looks like an ingredient list. If the photo is blurry, angled, or the print is very small, the reader can return confident nonsense. Rather than run an allergen check over nonsense and report nothing found, Litmus tells you it could not read it. Try again with more light and the panel flat to the camera.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. The product and ingredient databases are stored on your device. Litmus makes no network requests at all, apart from Apple handling a purchase if you buy Pro.

An ingredient list here is wrong

See Corrections. Manufacturers and shoppers can both report an error, and it will be fixed in the next data build.

How do I cancel Pro?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple: open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the renewal; the safety features were never behind the paywall and keep working either way.
